Maisy is a shikoku dog, lean but dense. Her structure is typical of such breeds, having thick fur, a compact, strong build, and rounded facial features. Her fur is a blending of various earthy warm and dark cool tones with pale creams and grays, and unsaturated chocolate tones lining the separation between the two.
Note for artists: Ophelia and Maisy are an attempt to get me into drawing humans, so they have dual human/feral designs. They're not shape-shifters/should not be drawn in an anthropomorphic style.
Disposition | If you asked Maisy what she wants from life, she'll say she already has it- despite doubting herself a little bit, though. Maisy may rarely be unhappy with her situation (and never complains if she is, preferring to take action rather than gripe), but she's also rarely satisfied. She was raised mostly by her mother, a spitfire woman of short stature but with high expectations. Despite not having a close relationship with her in her adulthood, raised as she was surrounded by an atmosphere of criticism, she was coaxed into a state of mind that is rarely apathetic. Maisy has backed herself into a corner surrounded by emotional walls built out of strong opinions and high standards, and occasionally it gets to her- she sees uncertainty as a fatal flaw. However, Ophelia tries very hard to get her to accept her own humanity (and she has been at least somewhat successful).
Her judgement of herself has occasionally expressed itself in more positive ways, fortunately. Never stagnant, always critical and curious, Maisy has led herself through some serious reflection and growth and come out a far more confident person as a result. She's religious--non-denominational Christian--although she doesn't talk about it much. Religion was an oppressive barrier in her childhood, but in her late teens she went through a formative phase of self-discovery involving a lot of questioning and walked away with a much stronger sense of self (and a much more personal definition of and relationship to her faith).
Her general confidence in herself (minus her lack of emotional flexibility) leads to a surefootedness in almost every other situation. She expresses herself however she sees fit and doesn't bother too much with how others may react. Her dismissal of others as inconsequential and her "if you want it, go and get it" attitude both have coordinating yet completely opposite effects on others. She's independent, yet can come off as insensitive or abrasive; she's outgoing, but habitually jealous. Despite her familiarity with herself, she also lacks a natural ability to read other people. Her lack of perception isn't for lack of trying, as she puts an incredible amount of effort in attempting to recognize subtle boundaries and emotional cues, but her success tends to be very variable on how familiar she is with the other person. Regardless, she's typically at home in any room with any crowd, displaying a kind of laid back that's very unique to her and that tends to attract people without her trying to.
Things that may or may not be put into detail/explained later |
• Has a very comfortable posture. Stands straight, but relaxed (read: she takes up 2/3 of the couch)
• Believes in ghosts and scary movies terrify her
• Alcohol doesn't affect her very much, she just gets a bit more emotional roller coaster-y
• Loves anything involving physical movement, from running to shopping
• Guilty pleasure is attending wine tastings
